Make a strong impact by supporting students’ communication and academic growth in an educational setting. This contract-based opportunity involves providing expert speech-language pathology services onsite, serving 3rd to 6th graders within a collaborative, supportive school environment. You will work two days per week, making a difference where it matters most.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Valid or pending Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA) certification and/or Alabama State DOE SLP certification (can start with one while proceeding with the other)
- Previous experience working in a school setting with elementary or intermediate age groups strongly desired
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student progress
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide speech and language therapy services to students in grades 3 through 6
- Guide students in meeting communication, language, voice, and fluency goals as determined by Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Document student progress, maintain thorough records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the school environment
- Communicate regularly with teaching staff and parents regarding student progress and recommendations
- Stay up to date with best practices and developments in school-based speech-language services
