Customer Service Representative

Title: Customer Service Representative Reports To: Associate Director of Underwriting & Risk Control Location: East Lansing, MI Department: Property Casualty/Workers’ Compensation SET SEG is looking for a Customer Service Representative who is responsible for customer service and communication with members of the Property Casualty Pool and/or the Workers’ Compensation Fund. This position provides exemplary support and assistance to external clients (i.e. members) and internal team members in the areas of gathering and reconciliation of data, and other administrative duties that support the Underwriting, Risk Control, and Sales departments.

Primary Responsibilities Partner with internal departments to deliver timely, accurate, and professional customer service. Answer and route incoming phone calls for the Property & Casualty Pool and Workers’ Compensation Fund. Assist members with online portal access, claims submissions, and filling out vital forms. Generate quotes, endorsements, certificates, surety bonds, invoices, and review builders risk applications. Collect and compile applications and supporting data for underwriters, reinsurers, and other stakeholders. Perform administrative duties for the Property Casualty and Workers’ Compensation Department. Reconcile data such as property schedules, loss experience, payroll audits, and other exposures. Effectively communicate with external members and internal team to assist with understanding coverage and department processes. Assist underwriting and sales with a variety of assigned tasks during the PC/WC renewal cycle. Follow all departmental guidelines and best practices. Ensure all questions are routed to the appropriate team member. Assist with special projects as assigned by the Associate Director of PC/WC. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree or related insurance experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in the work product. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective time management skills. Ability to work both independently and as a team. Maintain a high level of professionalism. Ability to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can‑do attitude. Physical Demands / Work Environment Several hours per day at a sit/stand desk, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to spend several hours per day at a computer. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
