Mechanical Drafter

A manufacturing company is hiring a Mechanical Drafter to support their hardware development team. Located on-site, this contract role involves creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models for mechanical components used in robotic systems. Candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a similar role and proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Onshape. Mechanical Drafter Responsibilities: Develop precise 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies for robotic systems. Convert engineering concepts and sketches into formal manufacturing documentation. Ensure drawings comply with industry standards such as ASME Y14 or ISO and include tolerances, fits, and surface finishes. Collaborate closely with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and accuracy. Maintain detailed records of revisions and engineering change orders for all drawings. Mechanical Drafter Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience as a mechanical drafter or in a similar manufacturing role. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software, with Onshape experience preferred. Solid understanding of GD&T principles and application. Knowledge of mechanical tolerancing, fits, and surface finish specifications. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing, as well as standards like ASME Y14 and ISO.
