Summary

The Certified Surgical Tech functions as a scrub tech in surgical procedures, ensuring sterile instruments and supplies are prepared and maintained throughout operations in a busy community operating room

Responsibilities 

• Support surgeons and the surgical team during operative procedures.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow.

• Maintain strict aseptic technique and adhere to sterile field standards.

• Handle surgical instruments and supplies efficiently throughout procedures.

• Follow hospital policies and AORN standards to promote patient safety and quality care.

• Manage instrument decontamination and ensure proper care and maintenance of surgical equipment after procedures.

• Communicate important patient and procedural information effectively with the surgical team. 

 

 

Qualifications 

• Required: 1–3 years of healthcare experience with sterile technique knowledge 

• CPR certification (AHA Healthcare Provider) 

• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
