Job Title: Plumbing Foreman (Commercial Plumbing) Job Description

This role oversees and performs commercial plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair on construction projects and commercial buildings. The Plumbing Foreman reads and interprets blueprints, coordinates plumbing work on site, installs and services water, sewer, and gas piping systems, and ensures all work complies with local codes and safety regulations. The position requires strong technical expertise in commercial plumbing, the ability to lead and work alongside a crew, and the flexibility to operate effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee commercial plumbing installation and service work on construction projects and in commercial buildings.

• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute plumbing layouts.

• Install, maintain, and repair water, sewer, and gas piping systems using materials such as cast iron, PVC, copper, and related fittings.

• Perform copper soldering, ProPress/propress connections, and other plumbing assembly techniques with a high level of proficiency.

• Ensure all plumbing installations and repairs meet local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.

• Troubleshoot plumbing issues, diagnose problems quickly, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

• Coordinate daily tasks for the plumbing crew, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure quality and productivity.

• Inspect completed work to verify proper function, code compliance, and adherence to quality standards.

• Use appropriate plumbing tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently on the job site.

• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, general contractors, and team members to align on project timelines and requirements.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety policies and procedures while on site.

• Travel reliably to various job sites and maintain consistent, dependable attendance.

• Lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds and work in diverse job site conditions, including confined spaces or elevated areas as required.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience with commercial plumbing installation and service in construction and commercial building environments.

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plumbing specifications.

• In-depth knowledge of local plumbing codes and safety regulations relevant to commercial projects.

• Proficiency working with plumbing materials including cast iron pipe, PVC, copper, and related fittings.

• Hands-on expertise in copper soldering and ProPress/propress systems.

• Skilled in using standard plumbing tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.

• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex plumbing issues.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Reliable transportation to reach multiple job sites and a strong, consistent attendance record.

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work in various job site conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Journeyman or Plumbing License preferred, where applicable.

• OSHA certification is a plus.

• Prior experience in a foreman or lead plumber capacity on commercial projects is highly beneficial.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced construction environment with changing priorities.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks and relay information to crew members and site leadership.

• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, code-compliant work.

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily on active commercial construction sites and within existing commercial buildings. The role involves hands-on use of plumbing tools and equipment, including cutting, soldering, and pressing systems for cast iron, PVC, and copper piping. You can expect a fast-paced environment with changing site conditions, where safety practices and adherence to regulations are a daily focus. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, navigate various job site conditions such as confined spaces or elevated work areas, and wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for construction and plumbing tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Liberty, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
