Hospital Unit Service Coordinator III

Job Summary Under supervision, the Hospital Unit Service Coordinator (HUSC) is responsible for communicating clear and concise information to the members of the OR staff, medical staff, and other hospital departments. The HUSC supports the Patient Care Manager, Systems Manager, and/or charge nurse in the Operating Room. Duties & Essential Job Functions

• 60%) Answers telephones and intercoms as needed; greets staff, patients, families, and visitors professionally.
• 15%) Receives and relays information to appropriate personnel intra/inter‑departmentally, accurately and in a timely fashion.
• 5%) Directs staff/visitors/patients/families to the appropriate areas, registers visitors in the visitor log, assigns lockers, and distributes ID badges.
• 5%) Communicates any OR scheduling changes, cancellations, or delays to the charge nurse.
• 5%) Makes necessary phone calls as directed by the charge nurse and pages required personnel to assist in smooth OR operations.
• 5%) Organizes and prioritizes communications of problems or concerns presented by physicians, patients, and staff to patient‑care personnel in the perioperative area.
• 5%) Maintains the desk area neat and orderly and orders office supplies as needed.

Work Environment Maintains work areas neat, orderly, and clutter‑free, including hallways and equipment. Picks up and disposes of litter throughout the facility. Posts flyers and posters only in designated areas; does not post on walls, doors, or windows. Monitors the Environment of Care Manual location and reports unsafe conditions to appropriate departments. Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft. Other Functions and Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school graduate with training and experience in typing and filing. Effective communication and verbal skills. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology. Knowledge of standard office methodology. Good typing and computer skills. Ability to work effectively with all members of the nursing and medical staff. Ability to work under stress and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to handle incoming calls and requests. Maintains flexibility in relation to assignment, shift, or work schedule.
