Area Operations Director- New Installation (Midwest Area)

Overview TK Elevator is currently seeking an Area Operations Director- New Installation for the Midwest Area. Responsible for driving the success of the region’s new installation operations by efficient, cost-effective and profitable execution of projects. Manages operations to ensure budget profits are exceeded and develops best‑practice operational processes with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and growth. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Drive and support a culture of safety throughout the organization, including participation in safety training, performing safety audits and stressing the importance of safety to all employees. Drive success of area new installation processes from booking to turnover; coordinate with the area vice president and branch management teams to drive initiatives. Review P&L and other financial reports to monitor branch performance within the region to ensure monthly budgetary goals are met or exceeded. Use accounting reports to review job backlogs and potential job fades for all branches within the area. Develop, review and approve the operation plans and budgets submitted by direct reports. Plan, direct and prioritize elevator new installations with area manpower needs and ensure the area’s operations run efficiently and cost effectively; supervise project managers and use project management software and other scheduling tools. Visit jobsites to survey and advise on new installation job progress. Troubleshoot problems with operations managers and mechanics, perform quality audits and meet with contractors to review progress. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers. Implement and oversee strategic fade initiatives. Review and participate in bids of large or complex new installation jobs to ensure profitability. Attend pre‑bid meetings with sales representatives and provide technical input to calculate labor and material costs, ultimately maximizing growth and profitability while leading and managing operations functions. Assist with and provide approval for change orders, purchase orders, elevator turnover authorizations, accounts receivable, write‑offs, credits and other necessary approvals. Maintain strong familiarity of company products by attending company training classes and reviewing factory equipment updates and supplier goods, including a strong understanding of TK Elevator and its regional, area and company mission and objectives, ethical standards and code of conduct. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all federal, state and local elevator industry code requirements. Prioritize and support all US Field Operations and Region initiatives and support the execution of initiatives and processes within the region and branches. Actively participate in branch coordination meetings; interface with corporate departments, including legal and labor relations, and collaborate with the factory as the main point of contact for area new installation. Possibly oversee direct project field crew or hold project responsibilities on special tasks or projects. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree required; IUEC (full mechanic) considered in lieu of degree. 10+ years in upper‑level management in the elevator or related industries, preferred. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicles Report. What we offer Salary range for Chicago and Minneapolis: $195,000–$252,000; Salary range for Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland: $190,000–$247,000. The role offers a car allowance, fuel card and annual incentive program.
