Material and Warehouse management support engineer

Role: Material and Warehouse management support engineer

Location: Buffalo, New York
Duration: Contract for long time

Required Qualifications

Role Objective

Lead Material & Warehouse Management operations improvement
Work in warehouse floor environment (hands-on, operational role)
Assess current processes and fix/enhance weak areas

Key Responsibilities (explicitly mentioned)

Evaluate current warehouse processes mapping
Work closely with warehouse operations team
To stabilize core operational workflows to support the factory
Improvement areas where workers experience delays, such as excessive travel distances, waiting for material handling equipment, or system lags
Conduct informal interviews and open-ended discussions directly on the floor to understand the operatives' biggest frustrations and challenges.
Redesign work areas using lean 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure that frequently used tools and fast-moving inventory are always within immediate reach
Identify discrepancies between what the Warehouse Management System (WMS) dictates and what operators are forced to do manually, then look to close the gap.
Provide recommendations on warehouse designs to improve efficiency and optimize material flow.
Implement improvements in:
- Material flow
- Inventory handling
- Operational efficiency
