Learn more about the "T" salary structure here: Position Summary: The Associate Director of College Access and Pathway Programs provides administrative and logistical direction and supports the strategic direction for the college access, dual enrollment, and pathway/pipeline programs and initiatives of CREATE, the Center for Reimagining Excellence, Access and Transformation in Education, within the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. Under the leadership of the Senior Director of College Access and Pathway Programs, the Associate Director supervises the Assistant Directors of Dual Enrollment and Early Educator Pipeline Initiatives, Upward Bound (UB), and Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) as well as the Team Leader of the NextSteps AmeriCorps program, which is operated at Temple in collaboration with PHENND.
Among the key responsibilities of the Associate Director is the ongoing outreach to and collaboration with current and potential school district, local education agency, funder, government, and community partners on behalf of the college access, dual enrollment, and early pipeline / pathway programs and initiatives within CREATE, which facilitates contract, agreement and/or opportunity initiation, maintenance, reporting, expansion, and visibility and which supports strategic collaboration for positive systems change and improvements in college access, readiness, persistence and completion and also in the educator workforce and its diversity.
The Associate Director will be responsible for supervising the quality and consistency of program implementation and for supporting the Senior Director with all program and initiative data collection, analysis, and reporting for internal and external audiences.
The Associate Director will also be responsible for working with CEHD marketing and communication personnel to promote programming and with the Assistant Dean/Executive Director and Sr. Director to identify and pursue funding and scholarship opportunities for growth and sustainability of the college access and pathway programming within CREATE.
Additionally, the Associate Director will provide facilitative leadership of Temple's backbone support for the early pipeline into teaching ecosystem within the city, as affiliated with the Philadelphia Citywide Teaching Coalition and funded by the William Penn Foundation. The Associate Director will convene system and program leaders and early pipeline participants for ongoing direction and feedback and they lead the design, implementation, collaboration, and data collection for early pipeline ecosystem backbone support. The Associate Director will coordinate collaborations across the city among district, school, government, non-profit, philanthropic, and other community leaders to create, champion and illuminate attractive, financially-feasible pathways to college matriculation and completion and teaching certification for high school students who intend to become educators.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field and at least four or more years of directly related professional experience working in schools or in the field of education. Must include teaching and/or school counseling experience in K-12 education, as well as program administration. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Preferred:
*Master's Degree and 8 years of experience
*Experience working in an urban public school, with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges within that dynamic environment
*Experience working within higher education or a college access program or initiative, with an understanding of the college admissions and financial aid processes
*Experience working in a TRIO program and/or working knowledge of TRIO Federal regulations and requirements.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Strong technology/computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, database maintenance and social media
*Demonstrated success supervising and mentoring youth
*Experience supervising other Administrators and professional staff in educational or human service organizations
*Awareness of and comfort with issues of diversity, specifically around race, class, and gender, as well as an ability to easily engage in and facilitate discussions about diversity without unduly focusing on them
*Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to move within diverse communities/environments with ease & confidence
*Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility to take on new responsibilities as they arise, and ability to multi-task
*Ability to work under pressure to meet goals, deadlines, and competing priorities both independently and cooperatively
*Ability to demonstrate passion and commitment to promoting education reform agenda
*Ability to develop innovative teacher preparation programs
*Excellent skills in analyzing and solving problems
*Ability to collaborate with multiple partners & navigate varying interests and priorities
*Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.
*Ability to travel to schools in Philadelphia for school site visits; some locations may not be accessible by public transportation.
*Ability to obtain background clearances (PA Child Abuse, FBI Criminal Background Check, and PA State Police) that would approve one to work with minors.
*Ability to manage University purchasing card and reconcile transactions.
*Ability to manage access to Confidential or sensitive Personal Identifiable Information (PII). Required Background Checks and Clearances:
