What You’ll Do:
As a vital part of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples from patients across diverse age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Your expertise ensures specimens are accurately labeled and prepared for laboratory testing, adhering to strict safety and quality standards. You will establish a trusting rapport with patients, explaining procedures clearly and creating a calm environment during specimen collection. Your role involves verifying patient information, maintaining meticulous documentation, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies. Additionally, you’ll support process improvement initiatives, demonstrate professionalism at all times, and contribute to a positive experience for every patient and colleague.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary collections efficiently, safely, and with precision.

Collect samples from a wide range of patients, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.

Explain procedures clearly to patients and answer any questions to ease anxiety.

Verify patient identification and demographic information, ensuring proper labeling of all samples in the presence of the patient.

Maintain accurate records and documentation for all collections performed.

Follow established protocols for specimen handling, transportation, and processing.

Uphold safety, quality, and confidentiality standards in line with healthcare regulations.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support a smooth workflow across multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office sites.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Certification in phlebotomy (preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington).

1-3 years of professional phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections, and familiarity with capillary draws.

Strong venipuncture skills and the ability to work confidently with diverse patient populations.

Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to connect with patients empathetically.

Accurate keyboard/data entry skills to maintain precise records.

Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to prescribed protocols.

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if travel is required.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, with a willingness to cover multiple locations.

Nice to Have Skills:

Medical assistant or paramedic training background.

Prior experience in a customer-focused retail or service environment.

Knowledge of laboratory information systems and specimen handling procedures.

Preferred Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic is advantageous.

Familiarity with working in a patient service center setting is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

Valid phlebotomy certification (required in certain states) or equivalent credentials.

Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Available to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Physical stamina to perform blood draws, including standing for extended periods and handling patients with care.
