Director of Operations

RL Enterprise Recruiting & Staffing is conducting a search for a Director of Operations on behalf of a well-established manufacturer serving the pre-engineered metal building industry. This newly elevated leadership role will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for driving operational excellence, talent development, and strategic growth across the facility. This position is being created to strengthen the organization's leadership structure and expand operational capabilities beyond the traditional Operations Manager level. Position Summary The Director of Operations will provide overall leadership for manufacturing, production, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and workforce development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background within the pre-engineered metal building, metal building systems, structural steel, or related construction products industry and possess a proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and improve operational performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively communicate across all levels of the organization while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Previous experience within the pre-engineered metal building, metal building systems, structural steel fabrication, or related building products industry is required. Key Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day manufacturing and operational activities within the facility. Partner closely with the General Manager to execute strategic business objectives and operational initiatives. Develop, mentor, and motivate supervisors, managers, and production personnel to maximize performance and engagement. Establish and maintain a culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, and operational best practices. Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, efficiency, quality, delivery, and cost. Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Collaborate with engineering, sales, customer service, and supply chain teams to support business growth and customer expectations. Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development efforts throughout the operation. Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase profitability. Support organizational change initiatives and effectively communicate goals and expectations across the facility. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered. 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience. Previous experience within the pre-engineered metal building, metal building systems, structural steel fabrication, or related building products industry is required. Demonstrated success leading large manufacturing teams and developing future leaders. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, quality systems, and safety programs. Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Exceptional communication, leadership, coaching, and team-building skills. Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
