Scrub Technician

The CO-Scrub Tech is responsible for assisting surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique and proper equipment management. This role requires collaboration with the surgical team to provide optimal patient care, demonstrating technical competence in surgical procedures, sterile processing, and equipment operation. The position demands a strong understanding of asepsis principles and the ability to maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical cases. Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with all members of the surgical team to benefit patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in surgical technical skills, sterile processing, endoscopy, and materials management.
• Maintain a superior sterile conscience by adhering to principles of asepsis and consistently maintaining sterile technique.
• Communicate any breaks in sterile technique to the circulating RN and surgeons promptly.
• Ensure all necessary surgical equipment is present and prepared prior to the start of cases.
• Operate electro-surgical, diagnostic, video, disposable, and specialty-specific equipment safely and competently.

• Certification as an OR Surgical Technician.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique and asepsis principles.

• Experience with endoscopy and materials management departments.
• Familiarity with a variety of surgical specialty equipment.

• Must maintain current CPR certification at all times.
• Call duties are required and will be equitably distributed among staff, including holiday coverage.
• Strong sterile conscience and ability to communicate breaks in technique immediately.

• Scheduled to work four 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours total).
• Call shifts are assigned equitably among staff members.
