QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Experience or Training

High school diploma or equivalent; 20 Hr Security training ; evidence of security experience


Preferred Experience or Training

PERC Card; post high school education


Special Requirements of the Position

Work year consists of one hundred eighty-five (185) days, between four (4) and eight (8) hours per day, excluding lunch. Days and hours of work are administratively assigned.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related matters
2. Conduct school related business in a professional manner
3. Maintain a professional attitude while disciplining students
4. Work well under pressure
5. Maintain a strong attendance record
6. Gain understanding of school procedures
7. Provide general hall supervision to ensure appropriate student behavior
8. Check all students/adults in the halls for proper identification (ID, Visitor's Pass, etc.)
9. Circulate throughout assigned area, securing hallways, stairways, washrooms, and locker rooms
10. Intervene to de-escalate negative behavior
11. Check that all exterior doors are locked
12. Provide administrator and teacher assistance
13. Escort students from classrooms to deans', guidance counselors', and police counselors' offices
14. Respond to emergency call buttons, fire alarms, or teacher requests as needed
15. Provide study hall management
16. Record attendance in logs and submit scantron slips to data processing
17. Monitor appropriate student behavior conducive to a study environment
18. Provide cafeteria direction
19. Check student Ids for appropriate lunch period attendance
20. Regulate lunch line, ensuring continual movement and proper behavior
21. Circulate throughout student cafeteria during lunch hours, monitoring appropriate student behavior and maintaining a clean area
22. Provide exterior campus surveillance
23. Lock and unlock parking lot gates according to schedule
24. Circulate in school van throughout parking lots, regulating vehicle traffic and securing safety of foot traffic at beginning and ending of school day
25. Monitor student truancy during the school day
26. Secure safety of staff and student cars parked in lots throughout the school day
27. Assist with student embarkation at bus stop at close of school day
28. Ensure that all exterior building doors are locked
29. Provide supervision at extracurricular events
30. Assist with services of the school store and ID center
31. Photograph and produce student and faculty IDs
32. Other related duties as required or assigned by administration
