American Traveler seeks a CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant with 3-4 years of experience for a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Acute Inpatient OR, CVOR, and Outpatient OR settings

Handles approximately 8 cases daily

Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 6:15 AM to 4:45 PM

Call rotation from Friday 4:45 PM to Monday 6:15 AM, occurring once every 3-4 weeks

On-call requirement of 1-2 times per week and every 3-4 weekends

Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities

Cerner charting system preferred

3-4 years of experience required

BLS certification required; ACLS preferred

AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Illinois license required if applicable

Teaching hospital experience required

Level I and Level II trauma experience required

Acute Inpatient OR, CVOR, and Outpatient OR experience required

Cardiac, general, thoracic, and vascular surgery case experience required

Cardiovascular experience required including CABG, mitral valve replacement, and pericardial window

Vascular experience required including AAA repair, AV fistula repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral popliteal bypass graft, and vein stripping

Endoscopic procedure experience required including bronchoscopy, EGD, laparoscopic assisted cases, and PEG tube placement/exchange

Trauma experience required including amputations and gunshot/stab wounds

Equipment experience required including case cart, drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources/cords

Proficiency in aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and laser safety required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Provide surgical first assist support including suturing wound layers, tying/ligating vessels, and wound dressing

Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility

Scrubs provided by the unit

No-cost parking permit provided, with form completed during orientation

First-time travelers accepted

Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction

Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler

RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days

Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays

Travel pairs are not accepted

Day 1 consists of virtual, at-home orientation with required modules completed by 4:00 PM CST
