This is a unique opportunity to become part of a truly global organisation with over 350 years of history and a presence in more than 50 countries. MUFG is renowned for its commitment to integrity, responsibility, and building long-term relationships with clients and employees alike. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the credit risk framework for corporate banking across EMEA, supporting both senior management and your colleagues as you help drive sustainable growth and shared success. You will benefit from flexible working opportunities, access to extensive training resources, and the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professionals who are passionate about nurturing talent. If you are looking for a position where your expertise will be valued and your career can flourish within a supportive and inclusive environment, this is the perfect next step.

  • Join a globally recognised financial institution with a rich heritage and an unwavering commitment to ethical values, offering you the chance to contribute to meaningful projects that impact clients worldwide.

  • Benefit from flexible working opportunities and comprehensive training programmes designed to support your professional development while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

  • Work within a collaborative team environment where your interpersonal skills will be celebrated, and where supportive leadership encourages knowledge sharing, personal growth, and mutual respect.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Vice President Credit Manager at MUFG’s Credit Office for EMEA in London, you will immerse yourself in a role that blends analytical rigour with collaborative teamwork. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting detailed credit assessments for non-Japanese corporates across various sectors such as Industrials, Consumer, TMT, Healthcare, and Retail. You will be responsible for monitoring portfolio performance, preparing insightful reports for both local management and international headquarters, and participating in strategic projects that refine risk frameworks. Your ability to share market intelligence with colleagues will enhance collective decision-making processes while your mentorship supports junior team members’ development. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also a genuine commitment to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone’s contributions are valued. By ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies at every turn, you will help safeguard MUFG’s reputation as the world’s most trusted financial group.

  • Conduct thorough credit analysis of allocated sectors and products, including drafting detailed credit papers, applying rating methodologies, and preparing comparative statistics under the guidance of senior management.

  • Monitor and review existing portfolio transactions regularly, making well-considered recommendations regarding credit decisions and ratings to ensure ongoing portfolio health.

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by Team Leads or Group Heads, contributing to the setup or adjustment of risk criteria and policies aimed at enhancing portfolio quality.

  • Stay informed on trends, market developments, and regulatory changes affecting allocated sectors or products across EMEA countries, sharing insights with your team to foster collective understanding.

  • Support the professional development of junior colleagues by sharing technical knowledge related to specific sectors or products and encouraging their growth within the organisation.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for Tokyo Head Office and European Headquarters as required, ensuring all materials for credit committees are accurate and insightful.

  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies by adhering strictly to established procedures throughout all aspects of your work.

  • Meet internal policy requirements consistently while upholding MUFG’s standards for transparency, fairness, and honesty in every task undertaken.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments to maintain effective communication channels between senior management and junior staff members.

  • Identify potential conflicts of interest between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc responsibilities, escalating issues appropriately to maintain legal entity integrity.

What you bring:

Your proven experience within financial institutions’ credit divisions equips you with the practical know-how needed for this Assistant Vice President Credit Manager position. You bring not only technical expertise but also finely tuned interpersonal skills that enable you to connect meaningfully with colleagues at all levels. Your familiarity with sector-specific challenges—especially within Consumer, TMT, Healthcare or Retail—means you can offer valuable insights during portfolio reviews or when setting new risk criteria. A solid educational foundation underpins your analytical approach while your attention to detail ensures accuracy even under pressure. You thrive when collaborating within diverse teams where knowledge sharing is encouraged; your willingness to mentor others reflects MUFG’s communal ethos. With advanced Microsoft Office skills at your disposal, you efficiently manage large workloads without sacrificing quality or compliance. Above all else, your dedication to upholding ethical standards aligns perfectly with MUFG’s vision of being the world’s most trusted financial group.

  • Demonstrated experience working within a financial institution’s credit division covering corporate clients is essential for excelling in this role.

  • A strong background in sector analysis—particularly within Consumer, TMT (Technology Media Telecom), Healthcare or Retail—is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record in investment banking environments focused on credit or front office functions adds significant value.

  • Comprehensive understanding of credit assessment techniques and risk management principles is required to navigate complex portfolios effectively.

  • In-depth knowledge of financial products including derivatives enhances your ability to assess diverse transaction types accurately.

  • Experience managing regulatory audits associated with credit ensures robust compliance practices are maintained at all times.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enable you to communicate clearly with both senior management figures and junior staff members alike.

  • A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory; possession of a Master’s degree would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Excellent communication abilities allow you to articulate complex ideas succinctly while fostering positive relationships across teams.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications supports efficient data analysis and report preparation.
