We are seeking a full-time Sr Tax Accountant to join our Poughkeepsie, NY tax office. The Sr Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing a high volume of tax returns for individuals and small businesses, delivering related accounting services, and advising clients on tax-related matters. In addition, the Sr Tax Accountant serves as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic financial and tax guidance while overseeing the work of junior staff to ensure the accurate and timely completion of projects. The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 annually.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Conduct client consultations to assess financial needs and gather information
2. Prepare tax returns and ensure timely processing of tax payments
3. Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations
4. Ensure adherence to accounting standards and current tax laws
5. Maintain strict confidentiality and protect client financial data
6. Research and respond to client inquiries on tax and accounting matters
7. Recommend solutions and services that align with client needs
8. Supervise and mentor junior staff on tax preparation and planning
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills required:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2. Minimum of five years of related experience, in a tax preparation environment. Familiarity with Ultra Tax software preferred
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
4. Strong multitasking ability and independent problem-solving skills
5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate accounting and tax concepts to clients
6. Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude
7. Excellent attention to detail and sound analytical decision-making based on tax laws and regulations
8. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
