Assistant Principal/School-Based Instructional Coach Sampson County Schools Hobbton Elementary - Newton Grove, North Carolina Job Description Elementary School-Based Instructional Coach/Assistant Principal. Work closely with the PreK-8 Director, school administrators, and curriculum & instructional specialists to increase student engagement, improve student achievement, and build teacher capacity. Lead collaborative team workshops, grade‑level teacher learning team cycles, and one‑on‑one coaching rounds. Understand district curriculum goals, analyze student data, and help teachers identify instructional needs. Serves as a member of the school administrative team and assists the principal in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. Salary 10‑month Teacher salary as designated by NCDPI (50%) / 11‑month Assistant Principal salary as designated by NCDPI (50%) Qualifications Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in School Administration (or be qualified to enroll in an MSA program/hold principal licensure) Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience Current North Carolina Teaching License Demonstrated knowledge of North Carolina content standards Experience in research‑based instructional practices Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for teachers Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection Extensive knowledge of best practices to ensure the academic growth of all students Extensive knowledge of school‑based management, curriculum, organizational patterns, school operations, and student services Extensive knowledge of the evaluation process of professional staff Considerable knowledge of computer skills, specifically e‑mails, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and instructional technology Excellent customer service skills Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail Ability to maintain a highly motivated staff by providing a healthy and safe work environment and by communicating with employees in an honest, fair, and timely manner using sound judgment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community General Responsibilities Provide individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed Provide support in analyzing student assessment data Assist teachers with designing instructional lessons based on assessment data when requested Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with district curriculum Provide assistance in researching instructional solutions Model effective, differentiated instruction when requested Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers Manage time and create a flexible schedule to assist teacher learning Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers Perform duties as assigned by the Principal and the PreK‑8 Director Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry Assist with the development of a master schedule and related duty assignments; assist with student orientation and registration activities Assist in the preparation and management of the school budget and allocations according to local, state, and federal policies and regulations; work to involve school staff in setting budget priorities Provide direction to school staff in implementing goals and plans to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program Ensure that school‑based staff are aware of SCS board of education policies Ensure the school is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system Ensure the School Improvement Plan is followed and reviewed throughout the school year; implement a system for regular self‑assessment and follow‑through by adjusting to the School Improvement Plan Assist with ensuring that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed and involve the faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program Supervise, observe, and evaluate the performance of school staff as directed by the Principal in a timely manner according to an annual observation/evaluation schedule; identify effective teaching and learning strategies with the ability to convey the impact of effectiveness to the change process Maintain records relating to materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to carry out the daily school routine Attend meetings, professional development, and conferences to stay abreast of current policies and procedures relating to local, state, and federal policies and regulations for public schools Establish and maintain relationships with the parent‑teacher organization and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two‑way communication and initiate activities which foster parent and community involvement Design, deliver, and facilitate differentiated professional development opportunities that support school staff growth and improvement, including those that are new to the field Perform other related duties, as assigned Position Type Full‑Time Job Categories Administration > Assistant Principal/Dean/Head Instructional Support > Teacher Mentor #J-18808-Ljbffr Young World Physical Education
