Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a Medical Surgical setting. The ideal candidate will provide quality patient care and assist in managing various medical conditions, primarily focusing on Med/Surg and Telemetry. This position requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, excellent patient communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings for patients with cardiac conditions.
• Administer blood products and manage peripheral IV lines.
• Provide care for patients experiencing cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and administer oxygen therapy.
• Implement isolation precautions and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
• Assist with starting and maintaining IVs, including managing IV insulin protocols.
• Participate in wound care and the use of wound vacs as needed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Experience with telemetry and dysrhythmia management.
• Must possess current BLS certification.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• ACLS and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
• Experience in community hospital settings.
• Ability to manage cardiac drips without titration and engage in non-invasive airway management.

General Information

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5 or 1:6.
• This position involves working three 12-hour night shifts per week (18:45 - 07:15).
• Orientation for this role will comprise 24-36 hours, with a structured hospital orientation during the first week.
• Weekend work will be required, typically every third weekend (8 shifts for 13-week contracts).
• Floating to other units may be necessary based on patient needs.

Patient Demographics

Patients may present with a variety of diagnoses including COPD, CHF, diabetes, infectious diseases, and typical medical/surgical conditions.

Scrubs

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.
