Staff Accountant I

The Staff Accountant I position will primarily be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting through recording journal entries, performing account reconciliations and variance analysis, and ensuring processes are completed in compliance with SOX controls. Provides excellent service to field and operational teams when addressing issues and questions.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSJournal Entries and ReconciliationsTimely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP and O'Reilly accounting policies.Resolve issues and make corrections as necessary.Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain supporting control process documentation.Assist internal and external audit processes as necessary.Reporting and AnalysisGenerate reporting and analysis as required by management.Monthly analysis of various balance sheet accounts.Monthly analytical review and reasonableness tests of various income and expense accounts.Analysis of budget to actual variances.Research and correct errors detected.Budgeting and CommunicationAssist in annual budgeting process through development of estimates, tools, and reporting.Provide a high level of service to operational groups and departments through prompt and thorough responses to financial questions and requests for enhanced reporting.Collaborate with team members inside and outside of finance to improve processes and operations.Assist management with special projects as needed.Assist other members of the Finance department as needed.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCERequired: Proficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelAttention to detailEffective written and verbal communication skillsAccuracyAbility to work with limited supervisionB.S.
