Chief Financial OfficerSalary Range $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 Salary/yearDescriptionThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of The Campaign Against Hunger's (TCAH) executive leadership team and serves as the organization's senior financial strategist and steward. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO is responsible for TCAH's overall financial health, sustainability, compliance, and financial planning. The CFO provides leadership across financial strategy, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, government contracts and grants, audits, internal controls, risk management, capital projects, and financial reporting.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial LeadershipServe as principal financial advisor to the CEO and provide analysis and recommendations for major organizational decisions.Develop annual and multi-year budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, financial models, and scenario analyses.Identify financial risks, trends, and opportunities and recommend timely corrective actions.Evaluate the financial impact of new programs, contracts, partnerships, investments, leases, acquisitions, and organizational growth.Financial Management & OperationsOversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, banking, financial assets, and financial systems.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, annual, regulatory, and management financial reporting.Monitor departmental and program performance against approved budgets and provide leadership with regular financial analysis.Recruit, supervise, develop, and hold Finance Department staff accountable.Grants, Government Contracts & ComplianceOversee the financial administration and compliance of government contracts, grants, and restricted funds.Monitor expenditures, receivables, reimbursements, documentation, contract utilization, and funder reporting.Partner with Development and program leadership on grant budgets, projections, financial reports, and compliance requirements.Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, contractual, and accounting requirements.Capital Projects & GrowthProvide financial leadership for capital projects, facilities, real estate transactions, construction, and major investments.Analyze acquisition and lease opportunities, project costs, funding sources, drawdowns, cash requirements, and long-term operating impact.Advise the CEO and Board on affordability, liquidity, financial exposure, and sustainability of major commitments.Controls, Audit & RiskMaintain strong internal financial controls, segregation of duties, authorization procedures, and safeguards against fraud, waste, and financial mismanagement.Coordinate annual independent audits and other financial reviews and ensure timely resolution of findings.Maintain and enforce appropriate financial policies and procedures.CEO & Board ReportingProvide the CEO with timely, accurate, and forward-looking financial information and early warning of significant risks.Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, major variances, risks, and recommendations to the Board and appropriate committees.Work closely with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee while maintaining direct executive accountability to the CEO.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree preferredCPA, MBA, or comparable professional qualification strongly preferred.Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, including at least five years in senior financial leadership.Significant nonprofit financial management experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience with government contracts, restricted grants, audits, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial reporting.Experience managing finances across multiple programs, funding sources, departments, and/or locations.Capital project, real estate, construction, or major investment experience highly desirable.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial systems, and data analysis.Leadership CompetenciesStrategic and analytical thinker with sound financial judgment.High integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and attention to detail.Strong leadership and staff-management capabilities.Ability to identify problems early and recommend solutions.Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear recommendations.Ability to provide independent financial advice and respectfully challenge assumptions when necessary.Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven, growing organization.Lines of CommunicationReports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.Works closely with the Board Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.Collaborates with executive leadership, Development, Human Resources, Operations, and program leaders.Provides leadership and supervision to the Finance Department.Working ConditionsFull-time executive position requiring flexibility for Board meetings, audits, financial deadlines, capital projects, and other significant organizational matters.
