Medical AssistantPerform a combination of duties under the direction of a nurse or physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Checks and records patients' vital signs. Draws blood and conducts other tests for the lab. Administers immunizations as ordered by the providers. Assists physicians in patient examinations by organizing and arranging instruments, leading patients into examination rooms, and holding children during examinations. Gathers and documents medical histories of patients. Performs EKG's. Maintains inventory stock of examination rooms and assures availability, complete assortment and adequate levels of supplies; instruments and rooms following examinations. Completes routine medical records and reports, provides basic patient information and instruction and performs other routine tasks under the direction of the RN to assist in the provision of good patient care. Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of supplies received by the clinic; contacts patients to reschedule missed appointments.
