Business Analyst 5

Location: Lansing MI

Work Type: Hybrid (Onsite from Day 1)

Duration: 12+ Months Contract with Possible Extension

Interview Mode: In-Person Interview

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Senior IT Business Analyst supporting mission-critical applications
Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather and document business, functional, and technical requirements
Perform business process analysis and recommend process improvements
Develop project documentation including use cases, swim lanes, sequence diagrams, and workflows
Lead and support Request for Proposal (RFP) activities and project estimations
Assist with project planning, forecasting, and impact analysis
Coordinate testing activities including creation of test plans and test cases
Support Agile and SDLC project methodologies
Act as liaison between business teams, vendors, and IT leadership
Participate in strategic IT initiatives and statewide technology programs
Communicate project risks, issues, and recommendations effectively

Required Skills & Experience

Strong knowledge of Business Analysis methodologies and process modeling
Experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and technical requirements
Experience with project estimation, planning, and forecasting
Hands-on experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies including Agile
Experience creating test plans and test cases with business SMEs
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Experience preparing RFP documentation and project analysis artifacts
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Visio
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Prior State Government experience preferred
Experience supporting enterprise-level or mission-critical applications
Experience working in cross-functional IT environments
