Clinical Therapist (Per-Diem)

About the Role

Rising Ground's Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), part of the Paths to Healing program, provides comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services to survivors of violent crime, including individuals impacted by community violence, intimate partner violence, and other forms of trauma.

The Per Diem TRC Therapist delivers high-quality, evidence-based clinical services to survivors, supporting healing, stabilization, and empowerment. This role is ideal for a clinician seeking flexible hours while engaging in meaningful, survivor-centered work within a multidisciplinary team grounded in anti-oppressive and restorative justice principles. Remote work eligible with in-office requirements. This position is located in the Trauma Recovery Center in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.


What You'll Do

• Provide individual trauma-informed therapy to survivors of violent crime using evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, EMDR, IFS, Narrative Therapy).
• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized, survivor-driven treatment plans.
• Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and stabilization support as needed.
• Maintain a per diem caseload based on program needs and clinician availability.
• Work collaboratively with case managers, victim advocates, economic empowerment specialists, and holistic healers to provide integrated, wraparound services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical consultations.
• Coordinate care with external partners including hospitals, law enforcement, Family Justice Centers, and community-based organizations.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with program, funder (e.g., OVS/VOCA), and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and ethical standards.
• Support client engagement through flexible, community-based service delivery (including home visits or community locations as appropriate).
• Participate in outreach efforts and community education activities as needed.

Your Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling (MHC), or related human services field preferred.
• LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, or equivalent licensure preferred (limited permit eligible candidates may be considered).
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with trauma survivors, preferably victims of violent crime, IPV/DV, or community violence.
• Experience in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive practice required.
• Familiarity with evidence-based trauma modalities (e.g., EMDR, CBT, IFS) strongly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, engagement, and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to survivor-centered, strengths-based, and restorative justice approaches.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or French) strongly preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Flexible from 2 to 15 hours a week

Additional Requirements:

• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
• Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
