Position Summary Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Raleigh, NC – offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Compensation and Schedule Hourly Pay: $31.50 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700 Sign On Bonus: $1,750 after 30 days and $1,750 after 90 days Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday Hours: Second Shift Tuesday – Friday 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm; Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in your first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build your skills Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech and more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or Technical Certification (post‑secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including: Routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred) All other certifications as required by location (required) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee you must: Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Additional Information Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor‑vehicle records check and a road test; and/or customer‑specific background requirements. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including: Standard vehicle maintenance Preventive maintenance Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Complete complex mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed Work unsupervised on most tasks Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT) Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support) SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220) Complete 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (predominant OEM of fleet mix completed within 365 days) Ryder is proud to be an equal–opportunity employer and drug‑free workplace.
