Insurance Specialist (Collections)

: Description:

The Insurance Specialist leverages client healthcare systems, internal technology platforms, and external vendors to investigate potential insurance coverage. This individual provides Ridiculously Nice service to our patients, assisting in finding active insurance coverage available and assisting in the payment of self-pay balances. This individual is committed to making impactful contributions and building trusting relationships in a culture founded in teamwork.

Requirements:

• Provides ridiculously nice service via all available omni channels to serve as the liaison between Americollect, clients, patients, and other parties, such as insurance companies.
• Offers education on the healthcare revenue cycle and troubleshoots accounts through resolution by reviewing large balance accounts and other departmental insurance discovery processes.
• Engages in and enjoys active listening with callers, confirming or clarifying information and diffusing conflict.
• Makes appropriate changes or documentation in client healthcare systems and internal technology platforms.
• Submits claims to insurance providers on behalf of our clients for their patients, following through to resolution.
• Contributes to the development of workflows for incoming clients, developing procedures and communicating expectations to the contact center.
• Proactively shares information about Americollect's healthcare revenue cycle services to support the growth of the business's client and/or account base.
• Follows department processes and procedures in compliance with industry laws and regulations.
• Manages inventory to ensure metrics are being met to patient's accounts are not being sent to collections prior to resolution.
• Reviews and escalates complex accounts requiring additional review.

Eligibility Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma / GED Required
• Two Years of College or Associate's Degree Preferred

Experience

• 1+ year(s) of experience in a customer service capacity required, preferably in a contact center environment
• 1+ year(s) of experience multi-tasking in a fast- paced environment required
• 1+ year(s) of experience with medical insurance, coding, or billing in a professional environment required

Knowledge

• Knowledge of collections industry, healthcare revenue cycle, and medical insurance and billing processes and terminology, and healthcare administration required
• Knowledge of the industry's federal, state, and local laws and regulations preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Achievement of the Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist designation preferred or within 18 months of entering the position. Required

Technology/Equipment

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
• Proficient in typing 45 words per minute required
• Proficient in leveraging client healthcare systems preferred
• Proficient in leveraging internal technology platforms preferred
