Position Summary

The Supervisor of Safety & Security Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of all safety, security, and emergency response operations across The Westchester campus. This role ensures that systems, personnel, and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Corporation’s standards for safety, professionalism, and service.

In addition to operational oversight, the Supervisor will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with Management and external consultants to establish consistency, accountability, and best practices across all safety and security functions.

Essential Responsibilities

Staff Supervision & Operations

·         Supervise and schedule Access Control Officers and Switchboard Operators to ensure continuous campus coverage

·         Recruit, train, and evaluate staff, establishing clear expectations for performance, conduct, and communication

·         Conduct performance evaluations and ensure all required certifications and training remain current

·         Provide direct operational support, including performing patrol and post coverage as needed to maintain adequate staffing levels, particularly during periods of staffing shortages or transition

Security Operations

·         Oversee the daily operation of all physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, intercom, and alarm platforms

·         Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for access control, visitor management, and contractor entry

·         Investigate incidents, complaints, and security concerns, and prepare timely reports for Management

·         Coordinate after-hours operational response to maintenance issues, elevator incidents, contractor access, and other building-related operational events

Emergency Preparedness & Response

·         Maintain and support the Corporation’s emergency response, evacuation, and continuity plans

·         Coordinate drills and exercises and assist in evaluating response effectiveness

·         Serve as a point of contact for law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies as needed

·         Coordinate emergency communications and ensure timely notification to Member-Owners during emergency events, including false fire alarm incidents.

Training, Policy Development & SOP Implementation

·         Support the development, documentation, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with Management and external consultants

·         Evaluate current practices and identify gaps in processes, documentation, and compliance

·         Assist in translating policy direction into clear, actionable procedures for staff

·         Ensure all SOPs are effectively communicated, consistently followed, and periodically updated

·         Implement structured training programs aligned with SOPs and operational standards

·         Ensure staff maintain CPR/AED and first aid certifications and complete required training

Communication & Coordination

·         Maintain regular operational coordination with Facilities leadership, Member Services, Human Resources, and Front Desk operations to ensure consistent implementation of emergency response procedures, access control standards, and operational communication protocols

·         Maintain a close working partnership with the Director of Operations and Chief Engineer to ensure effective coordination during emergencies, fire alarm events, infrastructure incidents, and after-hours operational issues

·         Communicate professionally with Member-Owners regarding safety-related matters

·         Provide regular updates to the General Manager on incidents, training, and operational performance

Qualifications

·         Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Emergency Management, or related field  preferred

·         Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in security or safety operations, preferably in a residential, institutional, or hospitality environment

·         Demonstrated experience supervising staff and overseeing daily operations

·         Working knowledge of access control, CCTV, and fire/life-safety systems

·         Certified in or able to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid within 90 days of hire

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion

Schedule and Evaluation

Anticipated regular schedule Tuesday–Saturday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM, or as may be necessary to meet the organization’s needs. The Supervisor may periodically work evening or overnight hours as necessary to evaluate operational readiness, staffing performance, and 24/7 procedures

Performance will be evaluated annually by the General Manager based on operational effectiveness, staff performance, compliance, and overall contribution to the safety of The Westchester community.
