General Summary

The cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Register Operations

• Operate computer point-of-sale system and handle cash/credit/check transactions with accuracy and integrity
• Follow all cash register transaction procedures
• Responsible for balancing of register drawer

Front End Appearance and Upkeep

• Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean
• Face and clean merchandise and fixtures throughout the store

Customer Service and Store Operations

• Project a positive representation of yourself and Farm City Supply
• Greet and assist customers entering and throughout the store
• Assist customers at the register and throughout the store with finding products and answering questions
• Thank customers when they are leaving the store
• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as coworkers
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently
• Assist customers with loading purchases as needed
• Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively
• Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location
• Receive new merchandise and place on shelves
• Setup new displays and arrange displays and plan-o-grams as seasons change
• Operate key-cutting machine and paint-matching and tinting equipment (training will be provided)
• Assemble merchandise as needed for displays
• Participate in any store meetings and activities
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

• Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs) and climbing (on step ladder)
• Dependable - at work on time and ready to work

• Customer service oriented - friendly attitude, listens to customers, problem-solver
• Eagerness to learn - listens to directions and learns from experience
• Computer skills - willing to learn new programs and procedures
• Accurate - works efficiently and carefully to complete tasks

Schedule Requirements

• 4-8 hour shifts per day
• Alternating Saturdays
• Day-time hours
• No Sundays
