FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

About the Role Carter Machinery Company, authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Field Service Technician. The Technician diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs heavy equipment at customer sites. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years relevant heavy equipment field experience (eligibility for $5,000 bonus). Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Excellent mechanical aptitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Professional interaction with customers and all levels of personnel. Strong communication: verbal and written. Self‑directed and well organized; prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service. Ability to learn and apply new knowledge. Proficient with technical software, databases and manuals. Ability to function well in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent driving record; must obtain CDL and DOT medical card. Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed. Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Compensation Starting hourly rate: $35.00 – $49.94. Base pay may vary by experience, skills, geography. Total compensation may include performance‑based incentive programs.
