Vice President | Petroleum Economics & ARIES Specialist

Jefferies is seeking a Vice President, Petroleum Economics & ARIES Specialist to join its Energy Investment Banking team in Houston. This role will serve as a critical member of the firm's upstream oil and gas advisory platform, providing advanced reservoir economics, production forecasting, and asset valuation support across a broad range of M&A, capital raising, strategic advisory, and corporate finance engagements. The successful candidate will function as a dedicated petroleum economics expert and primary ARIES resource for the investment banking team, overseeing the development, maintenance, and analysis of complex upstream oil and gas economic models. This position is ideal for an experienced petroleum economist seeking a long‑term technical career path while working alongside one of the industry's leading energy advisory franchises. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and analyze upstream oil and gas economic models utilizing ARIES and related industry software. Serve as a lead petroleum economics resource supporting transaction execution, strategic advisory assignments, reserve‑based analyses, and corporate valuation projects. Evaluate reserve reports, production forecasts, decline curve analyses, and asset‑level economic performance across multiple basins and commodity types. Build and maintain proprietary databases and valuation models that support the firm's upstream coverage efforts. Partner closely with investment bankers, engineers, clients, and third‑party reserve evaluators to assess asset performance and transaction opportunities. Manage multiple concurrent workstreams while delivering accurate and timely analyses in a fast‑paced environment. Provide quality control and oversight for economic modeling outputs and assumptions utilized in client deliverables. Assist in training and mentoring junior professionals on petroleum economics methodologies and ARIES best practices. Support the continued evolution of the firm's petroleum economics infrastructure, processes, and analytical capabilities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting Approximately 7-15 years of experience in petroleum economics, reserves evaluation, upstream asset analysis, energy consulting, or related oil and gas technical roles. Advanced proficiency with ARIES software and upstream economic modeling. Strong understanding of reserve classifications, production forecasting, decline curve analysis, and oil and gas asset valuation methodologies. Experience working with reserve reports and evaluating upstream producing and undeveloped assets. Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving capabilities. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
