Depot Equipment Technician

Job Description Depot Equipment Technician – Honolulu Rail Project. The position is based in Pearl City, HI. The successful candidate will work on our Honolulu Rail Project and perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on electro‑mechanical equipment. Accountabilities Perform corrective, preventive and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication and proper maintenance of electro‑mechanical Maintenance Storage Facilities equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations and maintenance manuals. Observe electromechanical components and devices in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction. Perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults. Produce accurate maintenance records of track, third rail and related infrastructure, equipment performance, work accomplished, and other information using a computerized maintenance management system. Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide required corrective action and improvement. Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty. Operate OTE to move train in and out of the shop and for wheel‑turning activities in accordance with training and qualifications. Maintain electro‑mechanical equipment at the Maintenance Storage Facilities including electronically driven wheel lathes, train wash, wheel press, overhead gantry cranes, train lifting equipment, forklifts and dock levelers, etc. Operate wheel‑turning machine, wheel press, train lifts, cranes and other depot equipment in accordance with training and qualifications. Support the on‑site spare parts management and the repair cycle from/to the site. Produce work blocks and job hazard analysis pertaining to planned work. Complete assigned operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required. Comply with Safety Rules, Operating Rule Book and first‑aid procedures. Use electronic test equipment, power tools and other specialized hand tools as required. Ensure the execution and collection of all the maintenance records and support the monitoring of the day‑to‑day maintenance performance. Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational specifications and tolerance. Early identification of failure trends that may impact fleet availability. Perform failure analysis and technical investigation. Ensure that the corrective and preventative maintenance tasks are executed in compliance with the company safety policy and local regulations. Comply with all maintenance procedures and instructions including safety, quality and environmental procedures. Work in close proximity to electrical power and frequently request Red Tag, LOTOs and hot stick application. The role requires flexibility and efficiency which require shift rotation, weekends and holidays typical of major infrastructure projects and operating transit systems. Perform additional cross‑functional job duties on unrelated track and third rail systems, included but not limited to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic controlled systems in accordance with training and qualifications. Required Skills & Knowledge Experience of electronic and/or electromechanical vehicle equipment maintenance. Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment. Knowledge of or ability to attain knowledge of the safety rules regarding lock‑out tag‑out protection. Ability to use and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturers' maintenance instructions, Operating Book of Rules, etc., and to comprehend the operations and maintenance of MSF equipment systems. Desired Skills & Knowledge 1‑2 years' experience as a machinist. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Education High School diploma or equivalent. Compensation The starting pay for this position is $30.49/hour.
