Position: Registered Nurse - NICU

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in NICU and be willing to float to the Childbirth Center Units as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in NICU.
Travel experience is preferred.
Must have active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
Experience with patient ratios of 3:1.
Experience with Epic charting system is preferred.
Ability to float to Childbirth Center units as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care for neonates and infants in the NICU.
Manage critical care tasks, including the placement and management of central lines and arterial catheters.
Support patients with respiratory distress, jaundice management, and feeding support.
Administer necessary medications such as surfactants and vasopressors, following established protocols.
Conduct assessments and monitor vital signs, making adjustments to care as necessary.

Unit Details

Daily census: approximately 12 patients.
Number of beds: 18.
Patient age groups: neonates and infants.
Available interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and radiology.

Required Skills

Expertise in managing neonates, particularly those under 24-28 weeks gestation.
Ability to perform advanced procedures such as intubation and chest tube placement.
Strong knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and management.

Working Environment

This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, requiring teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
