Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Neuro ICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/22/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 22, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license. Details Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week Patient ratio of 1:2 Every other weekend required No on-call requirement Floating within scope required to meet facility needs Block scheduling is not available Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries), and ICP monitoring Specialized procedures include vasoactive medication management, central line and arterial line management, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions Specialized equipment includes EVDs and bolts Charting via Epic (experience required) Short-term acute care hospital setting — Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds Requirements Active MO RN license required (compact license also accepted); license must be in hand at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with 2 years specifically in a neuro setting required Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Preferred certifications/education: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education Must pass the Relias EKG exam — interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required Epic EMR experience required Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Navy blue scrubs required 10 hours of stroke education must be completed in total — NIHSS certification (taken within the year) can satisfy up to 3 hours, and a new or renewal ACLS (taken within the year) may also contribute hours; this education is completed during orientation RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Monthly parking passes are available at various locations; costs and availability vary by lot Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
