Job Title

RN – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract | Days | 3 × 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care on a heavily cardiac-focused PCU/Step Down unit, managing complex patient populations including heart failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, LVAD patients, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers (no remediation opportunities)
• Administer and manage common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Perform and assist with procedures including right/left heart catheterizations, sheath removal/management, TR band management, groin site management, cardioversions, and chest tube management
• Manage frequent admissions, discharges, and high procedural volume within a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; will not float to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Georgia or a compact state license (must meet Georgia requirements)
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin) and telemetry interpretation
• Must pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt — no tech assistance permitted; use of calipers required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must have chest tube experience and a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant nursing experience (training available if needed)
• LVAD patient care experience (training available if needed)
• Experience with pacemakers, ICDs, ablations, and valve replacement procedures
• Familiarity with STEMI/NSTEMI care protocols and stent placement post-procedure management
