Position Overview

A growing commercial construction organization in the Atlanta market is seeking a Project Manager to take ownership of projects from preconstruction and planning through execution and closeout.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for an early-to-mid-career construction professional who has developed a strong foundation in commercial construction and is ready for broader project ownership.

The ideal candidate understands how a commercial construction project moves from drawings and approvals through procurement, scheduling, field execution, change management, and completion. Direct mechanical construction experience is highly desirable, but candidates from general contractors who have managed mechanical scopes will also be considered.

This is a hands-on project management position requiring strong construction knowledge, customer communication, organization, and problem-solving ability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from planning through completion
• Coordinate project schedules, procurement, material releases, and field requirements
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, project logs, and other construction documentation
• Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes, and contract requirements
• Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel
• Manage purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, equipment orders, and material procurement
• Monitor equipment and material lead times and identify potential schedule impacts
• Assist with estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and project cost management
• Track project progress and proactively address schedule, cost, procurement, or field challenges
• Participate in project meetings and maintain strong communication with customers and project stakeholders
• Visit active project sites as required
• Support project closeout and completion activities
• Develop solutions when unexpected project challenges arise
• Maintain accountability for overall project performance and customer satisfaction

Ideal Background

We are targeting candidates with approximately 3–6 years of relevant commercial construction experience , although overall capability and career progression will be considered more heavily than an exact number of years.

Mechanical experience involving HVAC, piping, plumbing, hydronic systems, mechanical equipment, or related building systems is strongly preferred.

Education

A bachelor's degree is preferred, particularly in:

• A related technical or construction discipline

Professional certifications such as a PMP or CCM are beneficial but not required
