Senior Data Engineering Lead

DescriptionSummary: The Data Engineer Senior Lead will play a pivotal role in building and operationalizing the minimally inclusive data necessary for the enterprise data and analytics initiatives following industry standard practices and tools. This position involves leading the design, development, and deployment of Data Engineering solutions to meet enterprise goals and support experimentation and innovation while also serving as a technical leader. Also, this role will direct the efforts to ensure Huntington’s data conforms to business rules and is accurate, complete, consistent, and uniform. The Data Engineer Lead will also lead efforts to build and deploy Data Engineering solutions for some of Huntington’s most valuable and most challenging data-driven projects.Duties and Responsibilities: Lead Data Engineers projects and efforts.Help set the strategy and tone for data engineering strategy and vision for the future.Leads the architecting, creating, and maintaining of data pipelines.Work in partnership with data science teams and with business analysts in refining their data requirements for various data and analytics initiatives and their data consumption requirements.Work with data governance teams and participate in vetting and promoting content created in the business and by data scientists to the curated data catalog for governed reuse.Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members and develops the team to work with all areas of the organization.Identifies the roles, skills, and knowledge required to achieve organizational goals, and forecasts new skill requirements.Leads the evaluation of tools with key stakeholders across varying management levels to prioritize analytics use cases and requests and maintain the overall book of work.Plans and ensures the execution of work, and achievement of team goals.Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes.Professional image with the ability to form relationships across functions.Works with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are clearly understood and that services meet those needs.Anticipates and analyzes trends in technology while assessing the emerging technology’s impact(s).Coaches' individuals and teams through change and serves as a role model.Performs other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics, related field or relevant work experience10+ years of related experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization, and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks. 10+ years of technical leadership and experience with data-centric products, experience with database programming languages, and with advanced analytics toolsPreferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, statistics or related fieldExpert experience with data engineering tooling (e.g., Glue, Landa, Athena, AWS)Expert knowledge of BI software tools Expert experience with open-source and commercial data science platforms Learn and/or Agile methodologyDemonstrated ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiencesDemonstrated participation and leadership in the broader technology communityAbility to foster an inclusive and innovative working environment Demonstrated negotiation, influencing, partnership & presentation/communication skillsAbility to understand business challenges and translate them into value added, data driven solutionsStrong experience with various Data Management architectures and processesStrong experience in working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures and integrated datasetsDemonstrated success in working with large datasets to extract business valueStrong experience in working with DevOps capabilities like version control, automated builds, testing and release management capabilities Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomesProfessional image with the ability to form relationships across functionsAbility to train more junior analysts regarding day-to-day activities, as necessaryProven ability to lead cross-functional teamsWillingness and ability to learn new technologies on the jobFinancial Services backgroundExempt Status: (Yes = not eligible for overtime pay) (No = eligible for overtime pay)YesWorkplace Type:OfficeOur Approach to Office Workplace TypeCertain positions outside our branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
