These inspections and tests may take place on supplier parts or Oshkosh assembled parts, sub-assemblies, or completed vehicles. The quality technician will be responsible for utilizing the plants’ Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to record inspection and test findings. Inspections and tests will be carried out in accordance with the approved work instructions, checklists, and control plans. The Quality Technician may also participate in plant level start-up/daily review meetings and report out on inspection and test findings.Essential Duties:These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Technicians may be assigned to a specific area (paint, end of line etc.) so some of these responsibilities may not apply to all quality technicians.Utilize inspection work instructions, checklists, and control plans to complete inspections and tests on “in-process” vehicles and sub-assembliesComplete inspections, sorting and minor rework on purchased components when parts are required to support production requirementsUtilize the MES system and other systems to record inspection and test findingsInterface with production operators to understand any challenging assembly process that may require additional inspectionParticipate in plant start-up and daily review meetings and provide details on inspection and test findingsComplete testing and drive evaluation on completed vehiclesCreate summary reports of inspection and test findingsParticipate in continuous improvement, root cause, 8D team meetingsUtilize CMM to measure incoming parts and in process vehicles (training will be provided)Utilize torque monitoring equipment to verify DC torque toolsUtilize hand tools (calipers, micrometers, go/no go gages, etc.) to verify componentsInspect sheet metal surface qualityInspect paint qualityContain suspect vehicles and perform inspections and tests, as neededOther duties, as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Basic computer, math, and reading skillsGeneral understanding of testing equipmentAbility to work with minimum supervisionExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to analyze and interpret informationAbility to communicate with leadership and fellow team members in both written and verbal forms at a level above standardTeam-orientedPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDPrevious automotive experienceAt least six months experience as an Inspection or Quality TechnicianCompetencies:Being Observant: Aware and alert to changes within and/or outside documented processesAnalyzing: Ability to comprehend information and make connections; capable of maintaining a logical and methodical approachAccountability: Responsible for the consequences of one’s actionsAttention to detail: Ability to see and become attentive to detailsTeam-oriented: Working well with others and maintaining a focus and value on teamCooperation: Ability to work effectively with others to achieve a shared goal, even when the object at stake is of no direct personal interestFlexible: Ability to respond, modify, and integrate change with minimal personal resistanceIdentification with Management: Ability and willingness to understand, accept, and carry out decisions and measures from leadershipInitiative: Recognize and create opportunities and act accordingly rather than waiting passively for opportunities to happenInsight: Having and gaining insight into situations, problems, and processesAbility to Meet Standards: Understanding established requirements to complete a task, job, or project and individual commitment to complete themQuality focused: Striving for continuous improvement and high-quality standardsIntegrity: Adhering to standards, values, and code of conduct within positionReliability: Extent to which you can be counted on to do what is expected (completing assigned tasks, projects, and meeting deadlines)Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities.
