About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Sales to take on a pivotal, zero-to-one role in building and leading the commercial function. The successful candidate will be the first commercial hire, with a focus on creating the entire sales motion from the ground up. This includes sourcing and closing deals, with a strong emphasis on self-generating the sales pipeline. The role demands a proven hunter with experience in closing middle-market deals, particularly in the $100,000 to $300,000 range, and a background in selling analytical products. The VP of Sales will be responsible for the full sales cycle, from initial contact to deal closure, and will work directly with the CEO, feeding product direction and eventually building a sales team. Candidates for this role at the company should be adept at operating without a defined playbook, and be comfortable in a founder-led, pre-scale environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in restaurant technology, BI platforms, or workforce analytics, and a personal network that includes CFOs, COOs, or multi-unit operators in the restaurant industry. Strong written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build and run the commercial function without relying on infrastructure. The role is not suited for those who require a warm territory, a complete product, or a big brand logo to drive sales. Winning in this position will be measured by the ability to immerse in the product, build an outbound engine, and close multiple customers within the first year.
