The Events and Global Health Coordinator position reports directly to the manager of the Student Development Office unit, and is also overseen by the Director of Outreach, Recruitment and Retention.
The incumbent's primary responsibility is to support all OME administration-driven and student-led events, as well as coordinate global health programs (and additional related efforts, activities, events, elective courses, etc.), focused on medical student professional development.
The incumbent also supports the needs of multiple administrative and faculty directors that provide oversight of the activities and programs.
The incumbent may also be responsible for other written communications related to the programs such as website content updates, marketing material, email, etc.
The incumbent is a full- time employee and may be required to work after hours, evenings, weekends and will be required to flex schedule.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressively responsible administrative or program coordination experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, international programs, student services, event management, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating events, programs, or projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
- Experience providing customer service and support to students, faculty, staff, or external partners.
- Experience managing logistical processes such as scheduling, travel coordination, financial tracking, reimbursements, purchasing, or records management.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and web-based systems/databases, such as Qualtrics, to manage information and communications.
- Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrating cultural sensitivity in program coordination and communication.
- Several years experience independently event planning
- Experience support both faculty and students
- Experience with creating marketing and promotional material
- Demonstrated experience working with post-graduate or professional students
- Demonstrated experience of Windows OS and Microsoft software programs needed to effectively generate data and produce reports
- Knowledge and experience with survey and application tools such as Qualtrics
- Demonstrated knowledge of the academic environment of a professional school and the requests of students and faculty.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations.
- Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
- Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and / or volunteer scheduling.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics.
- Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues / problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and / or management.
- Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists.
- Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating international education, global health, exchange programs, clinical placements, or partnership agreements.
- Experience with university financial and administrative systems such as AggieTravel, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing operational procedures, training materials, or process documentation.
- Experience interpreting and applying university policies related to travel, risk management, compliance, contracts, or event planning.
- Experience managing websites, newsletters, or communications materials for academic or student-facing programs.
- Experience supporting global health, international education, exchange, study abroad, refugee health, public health, or international partnership programs within a university, healthcare, or nonprofit setting.
- Experience working with international agreements, MOUs, affiliation agreements, or institutional partnership documentation.
- Experience supporting global health events, international symposia, visiting scholars, or cross-cultural stakeholder engagement activities.
- Prior experience with interpretation of School of Medicine, University, State, and Federal policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Experience with Kuali accounting system
- Knowledge of the professional student experience and student-related activitiesAbility to resolve problems, develop creative solutions, establish priorities, and meet frequent and competing deadlines

Department Overview
The Office of Medical Education (OME) is dedicated to the support and advancement of the teaching mission of the School of Medicine. The primary goal of the department is to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that nurtures the requisite and enduring attitudes, skills, and knowledge required of excellent physicians.
OME is an interdisciplinary team which provides a variety of services directly to students and faculty, including: instructional materials, financial aid, counseling, tutoring and support for special programs. OME staff offer support for various School of Medicine and Health System committees, including the Promotions Board, the Committee on Educational Policy, and the Educational Advisory Board.
Finally, OME sponsors a number of special programs in support of the academic mission and is able to assist with the presentation of those sponsored by other administrative and academic groups.
