As a PRN EMT , you’ll provide EMS coverage for the horse racing community at our Health Center in Elmont, NY.

This is not your traditional Monday–Friday, 9–5 job . Morning training runs 5:00 AM–11:00 AM, seven days a week , with afternoon racing 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, Thursday–Sunday .

Every day is different, with trauma and jockey falls among the most common calls. You’ll need to be comfortable assessing situations independently, thinking on your feet, and working closely with the PA/RN to determine appropriate care.

What You’ll Do

• Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury, establishes priorities, and administers initial treatment at the scene to stabilize patient until higher level of health care is provided
• Observes, records, and reports patient condition and treatments to provider
• Assists in extricating trapped victims: transports sick and injured persons to treatment centers
• Communicates with medical personnel and stays updated on treatment techniques and protocols
• Conducts safety inspections, prepares reports, and maintains records
• Cleans emergency vehicle, requisitions supplies, and restocks materials and equipment
• Maintains medical equipment, ensures a clean and safe environment, and follows infection control procedures
• Maintains patient health records to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
• Performs other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Current, unencumbered EMT Certification as defined within the state in which work will be performed
• Current certification with hands-on training in AHA, ARC or equivalent Basic Life Support for health care providers is required
• At least three years of experience as an EMT with an ambulance/EMS service

Premise provides its reasonable and genuinely expected range of compensation for this job of $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. A number of factors will influence the rate offered for this position, including your experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors.
