Accountant 2The Iowa Department of Revenue's Financial Services Division (FSD) is currently seeking an Accountant 2 to join our Tax Accounting/Finance team. The FSD ensures the accurate accounting of state revenue collection and departmental expenses, while collaborating with leadership to manage the Department's budget effectively. Additionally, this division:Provides centralized accounting services for Lottery, Alcohol and TaxCoordinates department procurement for Lottery, Alcohol and TaxManages financial auditsIn this position you will be responsible for:Reconciling and balancing multiple payment origins to their applicable tax revenue source using IDR Gentax (IMPACT) financial and Iowa Advantage State accounting systemsDaily processing of bank reconciliations, adjustments, and returned items, as well as applicable Iowa Advantage document processingProcessing internal and external transfer of funds and account payable billings. Travel to include Spend Authorizations and Expense Reports for internal travel reimbursement claimsAssisting in the completion of the annual accrual and GAAP package processesResearching, resolving, and responding to all internal and external customer payment and refund transaction inquiriesOverseeing the IDR warrant process including warrant refund reconciliation, tracking and processing outdated and warrant cancellation requestsPreference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:Experience with Iowa Advantage State Accounting, Workday and GenTax (IMPACT) systems, Microsoft Excel and Access(SQL) databasesExperience working in Governmental Accounting and TaxationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldJob Specific Competencies:Knowledge of professional accounting principles, theories, concepts and terms.Ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts and prepare reports and statementsKnowledge of the programs of the department for which accounting services are providedDisplays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail and commitment by completing assignments efficiently with minimal supervisionWorks and communicates with all internal and external clients and customers providing polite, quality professional serviceEmployer Highlights:The Iowa Department of Revenue is a well-respected employer.
