Description

• Assess patients of all ages, using standardized measurements and observation methods to evaluate communication and swallowing abilities.
• Craft individualized treatment plans tailored for short-term progress and long-term goals related to communication, cognition, or swallowing difficulties.
• Deliver focused, one-on-one speech therapy that enhances communication skills across language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, and families for a seamless approach to care.
• Provide education to patients and their families, ensuring they can support progress between sessions.
• Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations, maintaining consistency in care throughout the treatment experience.
• Keep detailed and timely records in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Engage in ongoing education to stay abreast of advancements in the field and foster peer collaboration.

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.

Certifications

• Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in Alabama.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is highly desirable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first month of employment.
