Lead P&C Underwriter

Job Title: Lead Property & Casualty Underwriter Location: Dallas‑Fort Worth, Texas Company Summary A multibillion‑dollar alternative investment firm with established platforms across real estate, corporate credit, equities, and insurance solutions is launching an affiliated property & casualty insurance carrier. The platform is designed to support a large institutional real estate portfolio, with a disciplined, long‑term underwriting strategy focused on risk selection, portfolio performance, and alignment with asset‑level exposures. This is a ground‑up build within a well‑capitalized organization, offering direct visibility into real estate assets and the opportunity to help shape underwriting philosophy, guidelines, and growth strategy from inception. Key Responsibilities Underwrite, price, structure, and issue commercial property policies, with a focus on complex real estate‑related risks. Serve as the primary underwriting partner to internal real estate stakeholders during acquisitions, financing events, and asset‑level changes. Evaluate risks based on construction, occupancy, geographic exposure, catastrophe exposure, and loss history. Establish and refine underwriting guidelines, appetite, and authority as the platform scales. Partner with brokers, reinsurers, and leadership to structure programs and optimize portfolio performance. Provide insight into emerging risks and contribute to long‑term portfolio strategy. Support the build‑out of underwriting processes, systems, and best practices within a new carrier environment. Key Requirements 8+ years of Property & Casualty insurance experience. Strong commercial property underwriting background. Carrier‑side experience (P&C carrier, Lloyd's syndicate, MGA, or specialty insurer). Experience underwriting complex commercial or real estate‑related property risks. Proven ability to operate in a hands‑on, senior underwriting role. Based in or currently working in the Dallas‑Fort Worth, Texas area. Compensation Competitive base salary with performance‑based bonus (no set range).
