This opportunity entails being responsible for providing senior‑proficiency level inspection or construction field work to monitor compliance with engineering/architectural plans and specifications. The Construction Field Specialist supervises the work of project staff to determine that contractors’ construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. The specialist may serve as an on‑site interface between client, company personnel and contractor in the resolution of project issues, and may be responsible for project tasks under a resident engineer or serve as the assistant to the resident engineer on a large and/or complex project. What You’ll Do Inspect, observe, document, and verify work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with the project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirm procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications. Advise the contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Review and resolve quantity disputes with contractor. Utilize engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date. Assist with reviews and checks calculations for the inspector’s daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor, equipment, and quantity of material received and verified. Perform on‑site material testing and assist with equipment maintenance. Assist with as‑built record drawings. Assist with contract close‑out documentation. Assist in construction schedule reviews, contractor pay estimate reviews, and change‑order management. Attend and participate in project progress meetings as needed. Serve as field technical subject‑matter expert. May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees. Perform other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need Associate’s degree in engineering, construction services, or related field and 10 years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction services, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience; or In lieu of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience. What You’ll Bring Ability to read and understand contract plans and specifications. Proficiency in advanced calculations. Understanding and interpretation of contractor schedules. Knowledge of testing requirements and procedures; ability to use testing equipment for material testing. Capability to serve as field technical subject‑matter expert by recognizing discrepancies or errors and resolving issues. Coordinator skills within the project discipline.
