Location: Levindale Hospital, LifeBridge Health - Baltimore, MD



Schedule: Must be able to work every other weekend

Position Summary


The Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I) provides safe, compassionate, and resident-centered care while assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Under the direction of licensed nursing staff, the CNA I helps maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment while promoting each resident's highest level of independence.


The Household CNA I plays an important role in creating a home-like atmosphere by developing meaningful relationships with residents and understanding their individual preferences, routines, and care needs.

About Our Household Units


Levindale's Household Units provide long-term care services within a unique resident-centered environment. Each household consists of 14 private resident rooms designed to feel more like a home than a traditional nursing unit.


Features include:

  • Private resident bedrooms
  • Central kitchen where meals may be prepared daily
  • Comfortable living and dining areas
  • Family-style environment that encourages resident choice and independence
  • Dedicated laundry facilities for resident clothing
  • Specialized memory care households for residents living with dementia or cognitive impairment
Households 5 and 6 support residents with dementia and other cognitive challenges. Staff assigned to these units must be attentive to resident safety, understand dementia care principles, and follow secured unit protocols, including badge-access procedures.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other assigned observations.
  • Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff.
  • Assist residents with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and restorative care activities.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment, including Hoyer lifts and specialty beds.
  • Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life through compassionate care.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and become familiar with their individual preferences, routines, and needs.
  • Support residents' emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for residents and visitors.
  • Assist with meal service and encourage resident participation and choice.
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Document care and observations accurately and timely.
  • Participate in resident-centered care planning and team communication.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience

  • Less than one year of healthcare experience required.
  • Previous long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare experience preferred.
Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I) certification required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to safely utilize medical equipment, including Hoyer lifts and specialty beds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Completion of annual nursing skills requirements and HealthStream education assignments.
