About the Company Republic Airways is one of the largest regional airlines in the United States, operating modern Embraer E170/E175 aircraft on behalf of Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines from bases across the country. Role Overview Full-time First Officer position in the Pilot team. The First Officer supports the aircraft Captain by ensuring safe and timely piloting of the aircraft and performing other aircraft management duties. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Key Responsibilities Provide the Captain with proper planning of each flight using all applicable weather information and reports, in line with company policies and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Determine that the aircraft is airworthy under the FARs and company procedures, and complete the appropriate preflight inspections. Together with the Captain, ensure the flight is planned and fuelled correctly so it can be conducted safely and in accordance with policy and regulation. Operate the aircraft safely, properly and effectively during the assigned duty period in accordance with the Captain's instructions, the FARs and company procedures. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated, the FARs governing its operation, and company manuals, policies and procedures. Notify crew and passengers of turbulent weather or any other operational factors affecting the flight. Complete the load manifest for each flight. Contribute to a reliable, on-time operation by helping the Captain meet all report times, departure times and minimum turn times. While at the terminal, assist with and ensure proper handling of the aircraft, passengers, baggage and cargo. Maintain regular and reliable attendance in line with company procedures. Present a professional appearance and follow the company uniform dress code. Conduct yourself professionally at all times on duty and observe the Rules of Conduct set out in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook and related policies. Continue professional training to improve performance and ability. Foster the company's core values and culture throughout the work environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the company and the Captain. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Meet the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements set by the FAA and the company. Stable employment history. Able to pass the FAA-required 10-year work history review and criminal background and fingerprint checks. Hold and maintain a valid US or foreign passport; authorised by law to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the country. Must submit to and pass FAA and company mandated drug and alcohol tests. Licences & Qualifications Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or R-ATP certificate. ATP written exam preferred. Candidates who interview at the interview minimums but not the hiring minimums remain eligible for hire on successful completion of the interview process provided they meet the hiring minimums within six months of the interview date, have had no certificate action since the interview, hold a stable employment history, and accept a class date within six months of the interview. Experience Preferred: prior customer service experience, ideally in an aviation environment. Language, reasoning and decision making Able to read, analyse, interpret and understand technical procedures and government regulations, sometimes quickly and under stressful or emergency conditions. Able to present information to and answer questions from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control and the general public, and to speak and be understood in English, including shouted commands in an emergency. Able to solve practical problems with limited standardisation and interpret multiple instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Able to stay calm, think and react quickly in all types of emergency, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances and turbulence. Decisions are typically medium range and of medium significance with moderate consequences, but in unusual situations may be significant and carry safety-of-flight consequences; must control personal and emotional responses and act appropriately under high stress. Additional Information Physical demands: able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and crawl; able to sit for long periods without standing; physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits using force up to and including 70 pounds; able to move objects up to 40 pounds (flight bag) and lift objects above the shoulders up to 35 pounds (passenger carry-on luggage); able to meet the FAA medical visual standards; able to hear verbal communication clearly in person, by telephone and over a headset with ambient aircraft and passenger noise; stamina for long, sequential duty days with frequent changes in temperature, climate and weather; able to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely and quickly in a confined space; able to sit in the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without modification. Work environment: work near moving mechanical parts; withstand outdoor weather in an open-air hangar and on the flight line for extended periods; noise levels may be loud and headset use is required; willing and able to work extended duty periods on sequential days and a varied schedule including early mornings, nights, overnights and weekends. Travel: up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays and overnight stays. Able to work extended hours with little scheduling control and report for duty on short notice. Willing to relocate based on the company's operational needs. Requirements
