Clinical Coordinator

Overview The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing both clinical supervision to program staff and direct behavioral health services to youth accessing the Drop-In Centers. This role is essential to ensuring high-quality, trauma‑informed, and developmentally appropriate services are provided to young people experiencing housing instability. Program Overview Through this initiative, SAMU First Response will operate one Daytime Drop-In Center in Washington, DC, designed to serve youth ages 18 to 24 experiencing housing instability. This project aligns with Solid Foundations, the District’s strategic plan to prevent and end youth homelessness, and seeks to expand access to year‑round, youth‑friendly spaces where young people facing housing crises can access specialized resources and supportive services to move toward stability and wellbeing. Services offered will include, but are not limited to: housing support, case management, mental health and substance abuse recovery services, harm reduction, income and benefits enrollment, sexual and emotional wellness services, life skills development, physical health support, work readiness, employment services, independent living skills, financial literacy, and assistance securing permanent housing. Coordination with DC’s behavioral health, disability, and substance abuse systems, as well as other youth homeless service providers, is required. The program actively participates in the District’s Youth Coordinated Assessment Housing Placement (CAHP) system. Role and Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Provide clinical supervision and oversight to case management and direct service staff to ensure effective treatment planning, intervention strategies, and client progress monitoring. Conduct at least bi-weekly direct clinical supervision meetings with case management staff. Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups tailored to the needs of DIC clients. Provide individualized therapeutic interventions for DIC clients, utilizing trauma‑informed and culturally responsive approaches. Collaborate with Core Service Agencies and other Behavioral Health providers to ensure clients receive timely mental health, substance abuse, assessment, reassessment, and medication management services. Monitor the quality of behavioral health services provided, ensuring alignment with best practices, clinical standards, and contract requirements. Support the development and implementation of behavioral health policies, protocols, and service delivery models within the program. Provide crisis intervention and support in complex client situations. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with funder and regulatory requirements. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, service planning, and case reviews. Ensure the integration of behavioral health services within the broader supportive service framework of the DICs. Other duties as assigned by program leadership. Qualifications and Requirements Required Qualifications Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Must be a Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist in good standing in the District of Columbia. Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role within a clinical or behavioral health setting. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision and oversight to case management and direct service staff, including treatment planning, intervention strategies, and client progress monitoring. Ability to conduct at least bi-weekly direct clinical supervision meetings with case management staff. Experience providing direct behavioral health services, including individualized therapeutic interventions. Experience facilitating therapeutic groups and psychoeducational groups. Experience providing crisis intervention and support in complex client situations. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Core Service Agencies, Behavioral Health providers, or other community‑based providers to ensure timely access to mental health, substance use, assessments, reassessments, and medication management services. Proficiency in maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with funder, regulatory, and organizational requirements. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred / Desirable Qualifications Demonstrated experience providing trauma‑informed and culturally responsive behavioral health services to youth populations. Strong understanding of youth homelessness, housing instability, and the behavioral health needs of youth ages 18 to 24. Familiarity with the behavioral health system in the District of Columbia, including partnerships with Core Service Agencies and other local providers. Experience working in a Drop‑In Center, shelter, transitional housing, homeless services, or similar community‑based setting. Experience supporting clients with co‑occurring mental health, substance use, trauma, housing instability, or crisis‑related needs. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multicultural, and client‑centered environment. Punctuality and attendance on all scheduled shifts. Communicating with clients and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner. Treating clients with dignity. Uphold confidentiality at all times. Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
