Job Overview LabCorp is seeking a Histology Technician to join our team at Ascension St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. The work schedule is Shift3, 5x8 hours, Sunday‑Thursday, 10:00pm to 6:30am. Responsibilities Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examination. Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens. Section the embedded tissue using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide. Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin‑fixed paraffin‑embedded tissue sections. Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures. Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens. Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments. Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed. Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies. Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting. Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements. One or more years of experience as a Histotechnician. Preferred Qualifications Histology and/or ASCP certifications. Two or more years of immunohistochemistry experience. Two or more years of experience working in a high‑volume laboratory environment. Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology. Additional Job Standards In lieu of education requirements listed above, non‑traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement. Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment. Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens. Ability to accurately read all labels and documents. Highly organized with a strong attention to detail. Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols. Able to pass a standardized color blindness test. Pay Range $28.50 – $36.00. All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, and internal equity and market data.
