Position Overview Salary range: $97,000-$221,200 Open date: July 20, 2026 Next review date: Saturday, Aug 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time). Position Description The UCI Department of Criminology, Law and Society is anticipating openings in the Project Scientist Series throughout the academic year 2026-2027. These positions offer a stimulating array of research and training opportunities within the department. These are typically grant‑funded positions under the sponsorship of various faculty members. The ideal candidate should be self‑driven and motivated, with a PhD in social science, with an emphasis on crime, legal studies, or criminal justice (e.g., Criminology, Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Legal Studies etc.) and research experience strongly preferred. Positions are dependent upon extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Appointments are based on performance and availability of funding. These positions require a Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, Economics, Psychology or related fields, and experience in the focus research area(s) listed above. This position is open for Project Scientists at all ranks-Assistant, Associate, and Full rank determined based on experience. This is an ongoing recruitment and positions are dependent upon availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are short‑term and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
