Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Medical-Renal)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend rotation expected (every other weekend or approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block) | One holiday expected per 13-week contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU/Medical-Renal stepdown setting serving adult and geriatric populations at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and support emergency response; manage cardiac drips (without titration)
• Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, administer blood products, and manage central and peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support via nasal cannula and oxygen administration; apply non-invasive airway management techniques
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations; maintain appropriate isolation precautions
• Float within skillset as needed; may care for gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and other surgical or procedural patients covered by hospitalists, including one bed dedicated to chronic vent patients

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown clinical setting
• Familiarity with care of hospitalist medicine patients with renal diagnoses
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations in a high-acuity environment
