Customer Service Assistant 2 (26141261) Mission Statement : To be the nation's most citizen oriented, efficiently administered, state tax agency. The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Director's Office Division provides support for the Director and department employees relating to tax policy, legal, human resources, training, communications, taxpayer assistance, dispute resolution, call center, accounting, budgeting, asset management, facilities and purchasing. Responsibilities This position resides in the Director's Office Division of the Department of Revenue. Duties include: Serving as the primary contact for internal and external customers. Providing information about unclaimed property that has been escheated to the State of Montana. Offering technical assistance and resolving problems regarding taxes, fees and licenses, unclaimed property, business personal property reporting, livestock reporting, and Department web‑based filing and payment processes. Communicating accurately with taxpayers, partners, and stakeholders. Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of policies, statutes, and procedures. Managing multiple priorities and working independently without supervising other staff. Knowledge and Skills Principles and practices of licensing, registration, application, valuation, and processing for various tax types. Federal and state statutes, administrative rules, policies, and procedures. Department business practices and office operations. Rules, procedures, and operations related to identifying and locating taxpayers and determining the extent of their tax liabilities. Research techniques to identify and locate individuals and validate identities. Proficiency with Microsoft programs and other database applications. Telework Eligibility This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite; however, the successful candidate must be a primary resident of Montana. Full‑time telework is not available, but an approved telework schedule may be developed with supervisor approval. Salary Annual: $49,710.00 – $51,257.00.
